Fire at former Milliken plant

GREENVILLE Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Crews  with Parker District Fire Department and the City of Greenville Fire Department responded to a fire at a former Milliken plant.

The fire was at 701 Easley Bridge Road.

Crews cleared the scene around 2:30 p.m.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters say the fire was under control by 7:30 a.m. but Parker District Fire Chief Steve Alverson said it would be a few hours until the investigation could start since there were hot spots.

Parker District Fire Department and the City of Greenville Fire Department responded to the fire.

Firefighters say the plant recently closed.

Chief Alverson said a security guard saw smoke while he was on his rounds and called the fire department.

It was unknown what started the fire as of Tuesday morning. Chief Alverson said it started on the lower level and spread.

No one was reportedly injured.
