INMAN, S.C. (WSPA) — Two Upstate firefighters were honored for rescuing a woman trapped in a burning home.
Timothy Hyder and Mathew Pearson with Inman City Fire Department responded to a house fire on Jan. 10th. The home was engulfed in smoke when they arrived just minutes after receiving the call.
City officials say the firefighters found an unconscious woman trapped inside the home. She and her trapped dog were both removed from the home.
Hyder and Pearson were honored Monday night.
Inman City Council presented the firefighters with a resolution commending “their valiant and swift efforts.”
According to the resolution, Hyder and Pearson’s “quick response and knowledge” saved the trapped resident and they “also showed compassion in trying to save the resident’s pet dog, who was trapped in the house fire…”

BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Inman, that Firefighters Timothy Hyder and Mathew Pearson are hereby commended for their valiant and swift efforts in rescuing a citizen from a burning home, for their compassion in trying to rescue the resident’s pet dog, and for the expediency with which they extinguished the house fire.
