Free health screenings offered at ‘The Well’ and Spartanburg

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — Health care providers across the state will help South Carolinians learn their risk factors for heart disease at community screenings during American Hearth Month. Today is Statewide Screening Day, and people can get free wellness screenings in the Upstate.

Bon Secours St. Francis, along with Upstate Cardiology, is partnering with The Heart2Heart Foundation and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control for Statewide Screening Day.

Heart health evaluations and risk assessments are free to Upstate residents 18 years of age and older.

People can receive a comprehensive screenings  from 7 to 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, or The Well.

Participants are asked not to eat or drink after midnight before their screening.

Screenings will include blood glucose, blood pressure, BMI and a full lipid panel, as well as a risk assessment based on factors such as cholesterol, blood pressure, height, weight, race and sex.

Participants can take the results to their doctor, or get a referral during the screening to find an appropriate physician.

Appointments are not necessary.

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System is also offering free wellness screening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Departments will screen blood pressure, offer a body composition analysis and more.

The hospital says everything is provided free of charge. Screenings will be held in the Spartanburg Medical Center Cafeteria Conference Room, and parking is available in the Outpatient Center lot. Call 864-560-4472 for more information or click here for more information.
