Man passed out behind wheel with meth, guns, say Spartanburg deputies

SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – Spartanburg deputies say they responded to a “man down call” on Asheville Highway Thursday night.

Deputies say they found convicted felon, Herbert Bruce Gaddy, 45, of Clifton in the driver’s seat, slumped over the center console in an SUV.

The deputy knocked on the window and Gaddy didn’t move, so the deputy opened the door and tapped the man on the shoulder.

Gaddy groggily awoke and appeared to be intoxicated, according to the deputy.

Gaddy gave the deputy permission to search the vehicle, according to the report.

Deputies say they found a crystal substance in his pocket they think was meth.

The report says Gaddy was arrested and they searched his vehicle where they found:

(42) 38 Cal. Rounds of ammunition
(259) 12 Gauge ammunition
(20) 30-30 Ammunition
(229) 22 Cal. Rounds
(8) 20 Gauge Rounds
(2) 9mm
(1) Sprint Air Card
(2) Digital Scales
(8) Laptops

· Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
· Possession with intent to distribute within half mile of a school
· Possession of a firearm/ammunition by a felon
· Public disorderly conduct
· Driving under suspension.

Gaddy is currently jailed at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
