SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — A man allegedly told a woman he was armed with a knife before demanding lottery tickets.

Daniel Ray Kellett, 20, of Laurens has been charged with armed robbery.

A Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputy responded to a robbery at the Li’l Cricket store at 11900 Highway 56 on Monday.

According to a report, the store clerk said a man told her he wanted scratch-off lottery tickets. When asked how he was going to pay for them, the suspect reportedly told her that he was going to take them and had a knife.

The victim said the suspect grabbed $260 worth of lottery tickets and was last seen walking towards the intersection of Highway 49 and 56.

Investigators later identified the suspect as Kellett.

He was arrested at his home by agents with the S.C. Law Enforcement Division on charges of defrauding the S.C. Lottery Commission and later confessed to the robbery, the report states.
