GREENVILLE CO., S.C. (WSPA) – Several crews battled a wildfire at Raven Cliff Mountain near the North Carolina line on Monday evening.
Jimmy Jones, public information officer with Cedar Mountain Fire and Rescue, said there were about 20 personnel on scene shortly after 5 p.m.
He said the fire was in a remote area and was about seven acres.
Crews with Cedar Mountain, Connestee Fire and Rescue, Caesar’s Head State Park, S.C. Forestry, and N.C. Forest Service responded.
A helicopter dropped water on the fire. Dozer lines were also placed around the fire and crews were working on hot spots as of 5:15 p.m.
Jones said firefighters left around 6:45 p.m. Monday. They will return Tuesday morning to check the area and attempt to determine the cause.
