WAYNESVILLE, NC (WSPA) – A fire has burned 132 acres on Cold Mountain in the Shining Rock Wilderness Area of the Pisgah Ranger District, according to the US Forest Service.
It is about 20 miles south of Waynesville, North Carolina, in the headwaters of Crawford Creek.
They say 50% is contained right now.
There are 49 firefighters and support staff, including two crews and two helicopters, from US and NC Forest Service and Haywood County Emergency Management, currently assigned to the incident.
