OCONEE CO., SC (WSPA) – SC Highway Patrol says there was a fatal crash on Cheohee Valley Rd. in Oconee Co.
It happened around 3:40 p.m. near White Oak Farms Rd., according to troopers.
Highway Patrol says the driver ran off the right side of the road, over corrected and ran off left side of road and hit a tree.
The Oconee County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver as 62-year-old John Charles Papendick of Tamassee.
Papendick was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, according to the coroner.
He was traveling toward his home, which was about 2 miles away from the incident location, the coroner says.
