SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) – All lanes are back open on I-85 Southbound at the Cherokee County line after a tractor-trailer jackknifed Wednesday morning.
The accident happened just minutes before 8 a.m. on I-85 South at mile marker 83, the S.C. Highway Patrol reports. Crews are also working to clean up a fuel spill after the accident.
Crews at the scene tell us that the truck driver appears to be okay. A witness says the guardrail was a “lifesaver.”
SC Highway Patrol says the tanker driver has been charged with driving too fast for conditions.
They say he tried to slow for traffic, but lost control.
He hit the guardrails and jackknifed.
He was wearing a seat belt and wasn’t hurt.
