GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – The Greenville Police Department says roads in downtown Greenville are open again after a suspicious item turns out to be an electric candle.

The item was found at 148 River Street.

Falls Park Drive at River Street and River Street at Broad Street was closed.

The Greenville Co. Sheriff’s Office’s hazardous device team was on the scene.

They used a robot to investigate the item.

Just before 3 pm Wednesday afternoon, Greenville Police sent a tweet saying the item turned out to be an electric candle and there was no threat.

Roads were open in downtown Greenville a few minutes later.
