BELTON, SC (WSPA)–This week in the Hometown Spotlight Series, 7News is traveling to Belton.
Local leaders said the small city in Anderson County is focused on preserving their history.
Residents told 7News that one reason many people visit Belton in the fall is to attend the annual Standpipe Festival.
An older version of a water tower, the standpipe, is one of only two left standing in the state of South Carolina.
Belton is also home to the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame. The museum is inside of the old train depot in the center of town.
Belton area residents say they enjoy bringing classes from elementary and middle school’s in the area to visit the museum to see old railroad antiques and pictures from the old Belton (Abney) Mill.
Downtown you can also see local artists’ work at the Art Center and listen to local bands perform in the Listening Room.
