SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – Developer BF Spartanburg has officially closed on their purchase of the Montgomery Building in downtown Spartanburg, Tuesday afternoon.
According to the developer, construction on the historic building will begin soon when crews begin demolition of the interior of the building.
Renovations to the building will include adding retail, offices, and over 70 apartments.
The building, which is still one of the tallest in Spartanburg, was originally built in the 1920s but much of the building has been vacant for more than 20 years.
The developer expects to complete work on the building in 2018.
