A man is in custody after his girlfriend said he beat her with an iron pipe and told her she was “going to meet Jesus,” according to a report.
Spartanburg Police say it happened at an abandoned house on Logan St. on Feb. 23.
The victim said Franklin Hines, Jr. hit her with the pipe.
Police said the woman had a cut about her left eye, and the back of her head appeared to be swollen. She also had dried blood all over her face.
When they asked her what happened, she said her boyfriend of 16 years was mad at er because he had found somebody else.
Police say she told them she and Hines stayed in an abandon house on Logan St. or on Hart St.
She told police they started to drink early in the evening and then they started having an argument.
She said Hines got violent around 2 a.m.
He hit her with the pipe in the head and she fell, according to the victim.
She said he told her he was going to kill her.
She remembered calling to Jesus for help and Hines told her she was “going to meet Jesus,” according to the report.
He took her cellphone and held her down or would hold the pipe to her head so she couldn’t get up and leave, according to the woman.
She said she passed out and when she woke up, Hines was asleep, so she left.
Hines is charged with second-degree assault and battery.
