SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – A man is accused of choking and pointing a gun at a pregnant woman’s head in front of her baby at Bluffs Apartments in Spartanburg, according to police.
Kendel Breyon Berry, 23, of Fountain Inn is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
Warrants say Berry put a gun to the victim’s head and pulled the trigger on Feb 20.
She said he cocked the gun and then she heard a click.
He is also accused of throwing her down twice and choking her with one hand over her mouth and the other around her neck.
The warrant says he did it front of the woman’s one-year-old child.
She is also pregnant, according to the report.
She told police there were no witnesses and Berry would grab her phone to prevent her from calling 911.
The victim said she tried to leave, but Berry grabbed her and pulled her back into the apartment and told her she wasn’t going anywhere.
She told police Berry is short-tempered and had been hitting her since 10/21/2016.
Police called Berry who said he was moving to Atlanta and was already in Anderson, SC.
He agreed to come back and give a statement to police, according to the report.
She has not been seen since March 13 when she was dropped off at a Shoney’s by a friend.
They sold the baby for $3,000 in cash, according to officials.
McDowell Co. deputies say Courtney Ann Truesdale stole checks and a credit card from her grandparents.
The suspect was wearing a mask and gloves.
The father of both children, Tillman Freeman III, 30, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
