OCONEE Co., S.C. (WSPA) — A Seneca mom is charged with child neglect after deputies say her young sons were dropped off at a hospital.
Oconee County sheriff’s deputies say someone brought a 6-month-old and 3-year-old child to Oconee Memorial Hospital on Nov. 23.
Deputies say the person could not keep the children because of a work scheduled, but could not find their mother. The mom was identified as 23-year-old Tiffany Rae Barfield.
A sheriff’s deputy also wasn’t able to find Barfield. Her children received medical treatment and were placed into emergency protective custody.
Barfield was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center Thursday morning on two outstanding warrants of child neglect after she was transported from jail in Georgia.
Barfield was released from jail Thursday afternoon on a $50,000 personal recognizance bond.
