GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – The teams have been announced, and the pairings are out for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

For the first time in 15 years, Greenville will be one of the cities hosting the first and second round games. Among the schools visiting Greenville are the South Carolina Gamecocks, the North Carolina Tar Heels, and the Duke Blue Devils.

“Residents of Greenville now don’t have to travel to Charlotte, or Greensboro, or Atlanta to see these really high profile collegiate tournaments,” says Beth Paul, the general manager of the Bon Secours Arena.
The staff at the Bon Secours Arena is in a March Madness of their own. They just wrapped up hosting the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament, which brought in $1.7 million in revenue.
With local interest teams like South Carolina, Duke, and North Carolina all playing in Greenville, the hotel rooms are filling up, and soon the tickets will be sold out.
“We’re right in the middle of ACC and SEC country, two of the best athletic conferences in the country. So it’s a sports-hungry part of the country, and Greenville’s no different. We’re just thrilled to be a part of it again,” says Mike Buddie, Furman University’s athletic director.
The Bon Secours Wellness Arena will host those games on Friday, March 17 and Sunday, March 19.
