Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser benefits Upstate children

(WSPA) — Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate is holding its second of three bowling fundraisers.

Members of the BBBS will ask their friends and family to donate or sponsor the event and then bowl on a team on Saturday, March 18 at Golden Park Lanes in Simpsonville from 1 to 4 pm.

Another bowling event will happen in Anderson at Boulevard Lanes from 1 to 4 pm on May 6.

This is the ninth year of the event. Organizers said proceeds will go directly to their Upstate program to serve at-risk youth.

BBBS Upstate has served the area, including Spartanburg, Greenville, Anderson, Pickens, Laurens and Oconee counties, since the 1970’s.

Little brothers and little sisters are 52 percent less likely to skip school, 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs, and are also less likely to begin using alcohol, according to the organization.

Organizers said their organization pairs at risk youth with positive role models and professionals in the area to learn from.

You can also sponsor the event at different levels including: Strike: $2,500; Spare: $1,000; and Score: $500.

The BBBS of the Upstate released this sponsorship information: Strike sponsors include Absolute Total Care, Bon Secours, Polydeck Screen Corporation, and Publix. Spare sponsors include: AFL, Co-Op Gas, Inc., Resurgent Capital Services, Rotary Chicks and a Dude, and Spartanburg Methodist College.
