BUFFALO, SC (WSPA) – A woman is charged with three counts of child neglect after a fire destroyed a mobile home in Buffalo early Tuesday morning, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Charisse Marie Lucre, 28, is in the Union County jail.

Deputies say the fire may have started in the kitchen and is under investigation.

Three children – ages 12, 7 and 5 – were home alone at the time, according to deputies.

They say Lucre was nowhere to be found. The children also didn’t know where their 2-year-old brother was and firefighters searched the burned out mobile four times looking for him before he was found. Investigators say the toddler had been dropped off a friend’s home.

Deputies think the children were left alone for three and a half hours.

Lucre told deputies she had just made a trip to the store, according to the report.

Deputies say all the children are fine and now with family members.

Four fire departments, EMS and the rescue squad responded to the fire.

Lucre’s bond was set at $15,000 and will have her next court appearance on June 6.
