SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – A Spartanburg man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for breaking into his estranged wife’s home and holding her at knifepoint.
55-year-old Tommie Lee Wells Jr. pleaded guilty to kidnapping, burglary, and domestic violence charges.
According to the Solicitor’s Office, Wells broke into the victim’s home on Sims Chapel Road in December of 2015 and barricaded himself in an upstairs bedroom while holding a knife to the victim’s throat.
Responding deputies were able to use a Taser to arrest Wells.
Circuit Judge Derham Cole sentenced Wells to a 20-year prison which was suspended to 15 years and five years of probation.
The Solicitor’s Office says Wells has 5 prior convictions for criminal domestic violence.
