Restoring recess in Georgia elementary schools

(WSPA) — Georgia is one step closer to making recess mandatory at elementary schools, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Right now, schools get to chose how much time will be devoted to recess. But the new proposal would guarantee students at least 30 minutes of recess on days without physical education classes.

Many educators say they support the policy but say they need enough time to teach common core subjects.

The bill was passed by the Georgia house and is now being considered by the senate
