Pothole Prediction: Will the warm winter help the roads?

(WSPA) — Potholes are one of the biggest problems for drivers on South Carolina roads. This winter has been exceptionally warm, which public works departments hope will help them with the roads.

The SCDOT has been busy repaving sections of I-85 and says that resurfacing has already helped prevent potholes on previously crumbling roads.

Greenville City Public Works says they are on track to repair as many potholes as the year prior. Spartanburg County says crews are waiting for the warmer weather, to see how bad the pothole situation may be.

Spartanburg County states that there has been less cold rain, which is what gets in the cracks and causes potholes. They’re hoping the warmer weather makes for better roads.

Each department encourages you to report potholes you see, so they can fix them quickly.
