School delays, icy conditions in WNC

MCDOWELL CO. (WSPA)- Winter weather advisories for parts of western North Carolina expire Wednesday morning, but snow and ice still cover roads.  Across WNC and the upstate, people are facing freezing temperatures.

McDowell County Emergency Management sent pictures early Wednesday showing the conditions for drivers.

Schools in McDowell County are on a 2-hour delay and the county administrative offices will open at 9am.

Several counties also reported delays and closings for school districts.

Emergency workers in McDowell Co. say they hadn’t seen any major issues despite the winter weather.
