Greenville, S.C (WSPA) It’s a bracket like no other. But unlike March Madness, basketball isn’t the focus; books are.
Stone Elementary School students are narrowing down the selection of their favorite books to decide which one should emerge as “Book of the Year.”
“I think it’s really cool because kids have the opportunity to read and they get to decide what they like,” said Delaney Townsend, a 4th-grader at Stone Elementary.
The bracket was developed by Bonnie McClain, a 5th-grade teacher at Stone, to capitalize on the March Madness excitement. Students much have read either all or most of the 16 selected books before voting on which ones should advance.
Students recently voted on what titles qualify for the Final 8. A decision on Book of the Year should come in about a week.
