Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich told the ClemsonInsider.com website Friday afternoon that he will have his customary end of the year meeting with head basketball coach Brad Brownell Saturday morning.
The Tigers just concluded a 17-16 season with Tuesday night’s N.I.T. loss to Oakland, a game in which they led by 20 points early in the second half.
Clemson’s last trip to the NCAA Tourney was in 2011, Brownell’s first season. Their N.I.T. bid this season was the second in his tenure. In 2014, the Tigers reached the N.I.T. semi-finals. Shortly after that, Brownell received a multi-year contract etension with large buy-outs, which remain in place.
Radakovich gave Brownell a vote of confidence following Clemson’s second-round loss in the ACC Tournament. Brownell subsequently said he “felt comfortable with the state of the Tigers’ program.” Clemson lost seven games by five points or less this season and several by one possession in the final seconds.
