Hub City Block Party brings St. Patrick’s Day to downtown Spartanburg

The fountain in downtown Spartanburg was green for the festivities.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Hundreds gathered in downtown Spartanburg for the Hub City Block Party to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

The event runs until 10:00 p.m. Friday near Morgan Square. This is the second year for the party in downtown.

Organizer Daniel Ross of Kudzuu Creative says it is a way to encourage people to enjoy local businesses.

“Some people only come down for Spring Fling or something like that so we’re trying to get people down here that don’t typically come down to say, oh there’s a craft beer place over here there’s an Irish pub and some boutique stores and that’s why we do this. It’s really exciting to be a part of what’s happening here in the city,” Ross explained.

Last year, Ross said they had nearly two thousand people in attendance and they are hoping to top that number this year.
