Fire destroys home in Gastonia

GASTONIA, NC (WSPA) – Gastonia Fire Department says they fought a house fire Monday morning on South Highland St.

They say it happened around 1:59 a.m.

Three people were in the home when the fire started, but they were able to make it out safely.

The fire was under control within 12 minutes and no one was hurt.

The fire department estimates $35,000 in damages was caused by the fire, and the home is a total loss.

The Gaston County Chapter of The Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
