MARION, NC (WSPA) – A man has been charged with child abuse and assault after hitting a 3-year-old boy with a belt, according to the McDowell Co. Sheriff’s Office.
The man is 26-year-old Jacob James Laycock of Marion, according to the report.
Deputies say they got a report from the McDowell County Department of Social Services of possible child abuse in a home on NC-226.
The investigator says Laycock hit the boy with a belt leaving numerous bruises on his legs.
Tony Lamertrius Leamon, 33, was sentenced to life in prison for a June, 2014 shooting, according to Solicitor Walt Wilkens.
