RUTHERFORD Co., NC (WSPA) – A man is in custody after a police chase in Rutherford Co., according to deputies.
They were in the Cliffside Community looking for a stolen car on 3/20.
Deputies saw the vehicle traveling South on US 221A and tried to pull it over.
They say the car didn’t stop and led them on a chase into Cleveland Co.
The car turned into the driveway of a Duke Energy substation and crashed through two gates, entering the restricted area, according to deputies.
They say the car was disable from the damage and the driver got out and ran.
Officers from Rutherford Co. and Cleveland Co. got to the scene and took the driver in custody.
Christopher Allen Fletcher Walker was charged with Larceny of a Motor vehicle, Felony flee to elude, passing a stopped school bus, driving while license revoked, resisting a public Officer, reckless driving to endanger, according to the report.
Deputies say Walker had several Warrants out for his arrest at the time of this incident and is being held at the Rutherford County Detention Center on a $95,000.00 secured bond.
