GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – The Greenville Police Department continues to honor the legacy of fallen officer Allen Jacobs this summer through their youth summer camp named after Jacobs.
This is the second year for the Gang and Violence Prevention Camp.
It is free to rising fifth and sixth graders and will focus on setting positive life goals.
“This is more of a mentoring role and really a way for us to connect with kids rather than just sitting there telling them this is right, this is wrong,” says Michelle Lentz with the Greenville Police. “We’re connecting with them, we’re mentoring them, we’re showing them, we’re leading them in a positive way. I think its very important it’s coming from us.”
Registration is open now through April 21.
The camp runs June 12 through June 16.
