Furman’s Medved Leaving For Drake

Furman athletic director Mike Buddie confirmed Sunday evening that head coach Niko Medved was departing for the head coaching job at Drake University.

Earlier in the evening, a source told 7 Sports that would be the case.

Drake, located in Des Moines, Iowa, plays in the Missouri Valley Conference. Medved is a native of Minnesota.

Medved is in his fourth season guiding the Paladins, who made the CIT semi-finals Saturday with a win at Campbell, a program-record-matching 23rd victory of the season. Assistant coach Bob Richey will guide the team in their next game Wednesday night.

Medved’s Paladins won 19 games in 2015-2016, including a win in the CIT, the program’s first postseason win in 40 years.
