WARE SHOALS, SC (WSPA) – Greenwood County deputies searched the Saluda River after a man reeled in his fishing line and made a startling find.

The man was fishing near the William T. Jones III Bridge when he says he pulled up human hair on his fishing line around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday.

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources searched the water Tuesday, but say they found nothing.

On Wednesday, a second team with the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office searched with sonar in the water on Wednesday.

John Long with the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office said the fisherman reported the incident to deputies about two hours after it happened. But when the sheriff’s office asked to see the hair, the fisherman told them he had thrown it back in the water.
