Man attacked with hatchet say Union Police

UNION, S.C. (WSPA) – A Union man is in jail after police say he assaulted someone with a hatchet.

Christian Braxton, 22, of Union has been charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. The victim was struck in the arm, according to an arrest warrant.

Police responded to a fight at a home on Wedgewood Court shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

A witness said Braxton was confronted after he was seen going through a woman’s pocketbook and asked to leave, according to an incident report.

The victims told police that Braxton pulled a hatchet out of his book bag and approached two people with the weapon. They say Braxton swung at one victim who tried to block him and was struck in the arm. They struggled over the hatchet before Braxton ran from the scene, the report states.

The victims said Braxton was last seen heading towards Pine Street, where he was arrested.
