FedEx driver helps save people from house fire in Greer

Greer, SC (WSPA) – A FedEx driver helped save a Greer family from a house fire on Thursday morning.

Chris Rowe was on his normal route when he saw smoke coming from a house on James Road.

Rowe said he’s delivered packages there before and ran inside while calling 911. Once inside, he heard a mother and son panicked and trying to collect some of their belongings.

Rowe got them to leave the house quickly and firefighters showed up minutes later.

Josh Holzheimer, deputy chief of operations for the Greer Fire Department, said an electrical fire started in the attic.

“The fire department crews arrived to find heavy fire in the attic of the residence, which was brought under control in twenty-four minutes.

No one was hurt in the fire.

The Red Cross says volunteers are providing financial assistance for food, clothes and other essentials to the family.

Crews from Boiling Springs and Pelham Batesville fire departments assisted with the fire.
