LAURENS Co., SC (WSPA) – The Laurens Co. Sheriff’s Office conducted a manhunt Thursday after a driver refused to stop for deputies when they tried to pull him over.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that there have been more burglaries and vehicle thefts over the past two weeks in the northern part of Laurens County.

Deputies were patrolling in the Greenpond Community Wednesday morning in an area where these crimes were happening when they spotted a light green car. When a deputy attempted to stop the car, the driver did not stop.

The driver of the vehicle lead deputies on a 12-mile chase before losing control of the car, crashing into an embankment near Getty Rd. and Millrock Church Rd.

A female passenger inside the car was detained, but the male driver fled on foot.

Deputies say that roughly three hours after the driver crashed, the Sheriff’s Office Bloodhound Tracking Team was able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.

The suspects have not been identified at this time. An investigation into this crime is ongoing.
