Water main break closes intersection in Greer, boil water advisory for some

(From: Sgt. Ballenger)

GREER, SC (WSPA) – A significant water main break closed a busy intersection in Greer on Thursday.

The break happened at the corner of South Buncombe Road and Brushy Creek Road.

Crews have closed Brushy Creek from Buncombe to Henderson Gap. Commercial trucks should use Suber Rd.

Officials are asking the public to stay away from the area.

The S.C. Department of Transportation says the road will be closed until repairs are made over the next two to three days.

SCDOT says a utility contractor bored into a 24-inch water main at the intersection.

A second water main broke in the area as well.

Greer CPW customers living off of Wood Road, Matts Lake Road, Judson Avenue, Lawton Street, and Clark Avenue should boil water for one minute through Friday evening until they receive a notification their water is safe to drink, water officials said.
