Want to help Harvey victims? Donate money, not items

SC Emergency Management says they are getting a lot of calls from people who want to donate items.

The volunteer organizations need money which will be used to provide exactly what they need in Texas.

Money is flexible and doesn’t need to be packaged or transported long distances.

The Red Cross says collecting and sending the food, water and items often does more harm than good. They says it takes time and money to store, sort and clean items, which takes time and resources away from helping those in need.

SCEMD say you can visit the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster website here to donate.
