Hurricane Irma strengthens in Atlantic

(WSPA) – The National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Irma has grown stronger.

Data collected on Monday showed Irma has sustained winds of almost 120 miles per hour and is a Category 3 hurricane, according to the agency.

Irma is headed towards Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.

It’s expected to impact the southeast United States early next week.

The National Hurricane Center will issue a complete advisory later Monday morning.
