SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A body was recovered from under a condemned house in the City of Spartanburg Saturday afternoon, according to the Spartanburg Police Department and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.

Spartanburg police report that two officers were called to an abandoned house in the 500 block of Hugh St. around 1:33 p.m. for a body that was discovered while two workers were attempting to locate a sewage line under the building.

EMS workers removed the body from under the house as police were arriving at the scene and recorded that the victim had no pulse, according to the Spartanburg Police Department report.

The workers reported that they were attempting to locate the sewage line in order to prepare the condemned structure for demolition. That’s when they saw the body under the home and called emergency services.
