Man pulled from house fire in Anderson

ANDERSON Co., S.C. (WSPA) – A man is recovering after he was pulled from a house fire in Anderson.

Anderson City Fire Department received the call around 10:51 p.m. Thursday.

The front of the L Street home was in flames when firefighters arrived on scene.

Crews found the homeowner near the front door. Firefighters say he was the only person home at the time and was alerted by a smoke alarm. The victim managed to get out of the room that was on fire.

Lieutenant Travis Poore believes the victim was flown to the Augusta Burn Center.

He suffered burns to his lower body. His medical condition was unknown Friday morning.

Firefighters have ruled the fire an accident, but the cause remains under investigation. It may have been started by a space heater.

Crews cleared the scene at 2:36 a.m. Friday.
