SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Rescue crews are searching for a 10-year-old boy who went missing Sunday after he left a remote mountain lake to look for mushrooms while hiking with his family in eastern Utah.
Authorities say rescuers are searching for any sign of motion in the rocky terrain where Malachi Bradley disappeared about 24 hours ago.
Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton says an airplane and a helicopter have joined about 80 searchers on the ground. They are also calling for the boy over a speaker system.
Authorities say the boy had a coat and a backpack with him. But they’re concerned a sudden rain or dip in temperatures could raise the danger of hypothermia in the high-elevation area about 200 miles east of Salt Lake City, near the Wyoming border.
